We're in Canada! Niagara Falls to be exact, arrived safely yesterday after a somewhat eventful journey, but we're all well and having fun.
Our flight from JFK to Bufalo was perhaps more eventful that we might have hoped. Things got off to not such a good start when our shuttle was late picking us up, then security at the airport separated Wendy & Caesar for longer than would be desired, and certainly longer than acceptable ... ten they picked Wendy up for having an attitude for complaining about it! Hmmm. Heathrow security knocked spots off JFK security this time.
We boarded the plane, they changed their mind about where Wendys' wheelchair was to travel, they gave away the previously blocked seat, and we took comfort in the fact tat it was only an hour long flight anyways.
An hour later ... we were still on the runway at JFK having only taxied a short way. We watched with trepidation the news showing a tornado warning for downtown Manhattan and saw video footage of the almost unrecognisable top of the Empire State Building due to torrential rain. The staff then got out the drinks and prepared us for an even longer wait. Thankfully, the tornasdo warning was lifted and something like an hour and a half after we were due to leave we finally took off.
It was a bumpy flight, but we landed safely in Buffalo and then transferred to our hotel by shuttle again. The hotel is lovely and very comfortable, just above Table Rock.
To round the day off, we went and watched the Friday evening fireworks over the Horseshoe Falls ... magical.

Oh my! What a rough day at JFK!
What did you mean by they picked up Wendy for complaining? Did they give you a problem because of it? They really aren't supposed to take Caesar away from you to begin with, so they certainly should have expected a complaint!
Well, I'm happy to hear that you made it safely and the bad weather did not keep you from traveling at all.
Enjoy the Falls! I've heard that they are just lovely!
Hugs, Tanya & Brooke
Hi again Tanya & Brooke, well Caesar went through the security arch, set it off and they patted him down and wanded him. Then I went through, but it set off again and they put me to one side, apparently waiting for a female member of staff to search me and my wheelchair. This took several minutes for a female to become available, maybe 10 minutes, all the while Caesar was the other side with Karen ... even other passengers picked them up on why I was still waiting, I asked three members of staff and the fourth, was so casual ... Again I expressed concern about being separated and they said they didn't care about the ADA, they were the TSA and they only care about security...oh and that I shouldn't have an attitude!
"The dog was clear but you weren't"
I think maybe they need educating!
Security in London was thorough, very thorough, but not once did I feel that they overstepped the mark.
Wow, well I would say that JFK will be on the top of the educational list! They actually told you that they did not care about the ADA? Wow!
Boy, they had better be glad they did not say that to Toni and Ed Eames! :o)
Hugs again, Tanya & Brooke
